Frits is such a beautiful cat! I don’t think I would like to travel with a large group, because I like to be free to do what I want when I’m on holiday. However, I think I would enjoy cooking with people. I’m actually taking an art class right now (for the first time in my life). At first, I would come home really depressed, because I was intimidated by the group, and by the fact that we had to show our sketches to everyone, and have the class comment them. I am not the kind of person who is comfortable in those situations! But now, after only two weeks, we’re all laughing together, and it’s really fun. I think that with cooking (in which I’m a little more confident than sketching), I’d have an even greater time. Anyway, I’m glad you enjyed the group cooking experience! [Reply]

I tend to make friends like that, too. Like minded people tend to do the same kinds of things, and then – not so coincidentally, enjoy one another’s company! Thought provoking… now – more about the cooking class, please!!! Great photos! [Reply]

I think there’s always bonding (and fun) in group activities, especially cooking. Perhaps the initial discomfort has to do with the fact that everyone is a stranger and has the same hesitancy about making friends. [Reply]

Simone, food blogging has shown me how people can become friends, very good friends, over a common activity. I totally understand where you are coming from! I also think that food and cooking are so passionate and so creative that only certain types of people really are involved in things like food blogging or cooking classes and that is what you discover after being with them for such a short time.  Yesterday we visited the market in Bourganeuf, which – thankfully – had a little more produce then the previous two markets. We had quite a large group so making decisions is always a little bit harder when there are 8 people with opinions… lol… But Jan-Willem was to be the chef of the day, so...

 Remember when we did the cooking course in Amsterdam at the Kookstudio in March of last year? That was the so called beginners course and we followed the advance course after that but when it was finished we kind of felt we wanted to do some more. The problem is that you can find loads...

It’s been a year alread? Wow! I do remember when you talked about the first course but it seems like a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I am just in denial that time flies! Hehe. I’d like to see how that machine works, but I wouldn’t let it do all the work for me, especially if you can’t taste your creation to adjust seasoning. That is just not right! Hehe. [Reply]

I’ve haven’t taken a cooking class yet (unless you count that one time, when I was 11 years old – and I certainly didn’t develop an interest in cooking then). I agree that these classes should be about technique, and not just specific recipes. I’d like to take a sushi class. And a class that teaches you to use your knives properly (I actually know one, but it’s always full!). And also a pastry class, something that would help me with presentation… I don’t use many electric gadgets in the kitchen… For example, I always make my cookie/pie/pizza dough by hand, even if I know the Cuisinart food processor gets it done quicker. I actually have a very silly reason: I don’t like cleaning the Cuisinart! Enjoy your class! [Reply]
