OM GOSH! Memories – gorgeous photos – and isn’t it truly a dream there. We do a lot of that kind of picnic idea when we travel… local artisan meats and cheeses with breads and fruits… and tomatoes.There really is nothing better. Hope you got to sample a young Pecorino as you are in the middle of Pecorino country in Siena! [Reply]

I think we would make good travel companions. You seem to have the same feelings and likes when it comes to the places you visited (that we also visited)! LOVED Siena! Very fun to see all this with you. Interesting about the cheese. I have only had limited experience with pecorino as Mark does not care for that, but he does like cheese…I cannot imagine not liking cheese, but then most people cannot imagine not liking chocolate, so I guess it is to each his own as they say. Pecorino is my favorite cheese but there are several different kinds. Some are table cheeses, some too strong for that. They are all sheep’s which for me is easier to digest. Is the cheese with the straw a pecorino? I find that one fascinating and I’m so jealous of your trip, (but happy for you). They even had pecorino that was covered in ashes…. Very interesting!! [Reply]

You are killing me here. That food looks like a work of art… and I think I would love the cheese in the straw. I know I would love to visit the farm and see it being made. So wonderful that you get to travel through the country side… and experience the life like this. I’m soooo jealous, jealous, jealous! I just love Italie! Last year when we where in Italie, I wanted to go to Siena to see the cityhall. Unfortenaly we couldn’t find it, but we drove through Siena and it’s so beautiful there, the houses, the landscape! So I can’t wait to hear your story. [Reply]

Oh Simone, too bad about the apartment. we stayed in Chianti in an awesome hotel with such a view. But, I didn’t get to be there a week, only three days and Tuscany lived up to every expectation also. Can’t wait to hear more. This was my husband’s favorite place. Hi Simone! Well the NEXT time you go to Tuscany, I have the PERFECT place for you to stay. It is a beautiful agrotourismo called Torraccia di Chiusi and it is several miles outside of San Gimignano in the countryside – the people who run it, including the fabulous chef, Bruno are all wonderful, friendly and accomodating. Where did you have gelato in San G? There is an amazing place called DiPiazza’s right by the big church, and the gelato is fantastic, you have me dreaming about it right now!!! We had the same impression on Florence when we visited, but we loved San G and Siena! The market in Florence looks beautiful. [Reply]

 As I told you yesterday we got to watch Lorna at work in the kitchen today and we even managed to help a little (or maybe stand in the way rather, but ok…) We started at around 10.30 (while rain is still pouring down outside) and at first we sort of watched but very quickly... 14 comments
