I will be judging in the August version of DMBLGIT and the below is copied from Andreea’s On Food and Wine So please read carefully and make sure to send in your entries!!!

Those of you who frequent food blogs or are food bloggers, must know the monthly food photography event “Does My Blog Look Good in This” (DMBLGIT). And if you are anything like me, DMBLGIT is sort of the photographic highlight of food blog events. I remember coming across it for the first time way back when, and thinking ’wow!’. And then some more. I wish I could find the very first announcement of DMBLGIT … Maybe the man behind DMBLGIT, Andrew, could help?

Long story short: I’m pleased to announce that I will be the host for the August 2008 edition – let’s call it the holiday edition.
The concept of DMBLGIT is simple: pick your favorite photo from your blog posted anytime in July 2008, and send it to me at andreeainbxl [at] hotmail [dot] com before the 29th August. (Just in case, yes, it is Andreea with two ‘e’ …) This will allow me to include you in the round up as photos comes in. Winners will be selected for each of the categories Aesthetics, Edibility, Originality and Overall Winner. As soon as I get around to it, I will also create a DMBLGIT August photo gallery, which will be updated regularly.

I’m not alone in this. Two great food (bloggers) photographers I highly admire have agreed to be on board for this month’s edition of DMBLGIT: Simone from Junglefrog Images, and an occasional food blogger herself, and Alessandro from Food-O-grafia. As you can see a very European (judges) team.
Now I’m pretty sure that last month’s host Real Epicurean, (and before Tartelette), won’t mind if I’ll be doing a little copy/paste of the DMBLGIT rules myself.

So the rules are …
Each food blogger can submit one photograph that was posted to their blog duringthe contest month (July). Photographs are reviewed by the panel of judges, who score them in three categories: edibility, aesthetics, and originality. The host then compiles the scores to determine the winners.
Specific things the judges will be looking for are as follows:
Aesthetics: composition, food styling, lighting, focus, etc.
Edibility: “does the photo make us want to dive in and eat the food?
Originality: the photograph that catches our attention and makes us want to say “wow!”, displaying something we might not have seen before.
Overall Winner: top overall scores in all three categories combined.
There are three overall winners for photographs with the highest point totals in all three categories combined, and one winner in each of the three individual categories.
How to participate:
Only one entry per person (a single photograph, no diptychs).
The photograph must have been taken by you.
The photograph must have appeared on your blog during the month of July 2008.
Entries must be received by August 29, 2008
Send your entry to andreeainbxl [at] hotmail [dot] com with DMBLGIT as the subject.
Please include the following:
your name
your blog’s name and URL
your photograph’s title
the URL of the post containing the photograph
type of camera used, lens if you wish
Please send photos in an attachment to your email in a jpegformat, of no more than 500 pixels in width.
And most of all have fun!
