I just love seeing new things pop up on my reader, with so many food blogs it amazes me how as the seasons change most food blogs are posting similar recipes, pumpkin cakes, apple crisps and so on. The truth is there is nothing wrong with that, but I loved finding your unique twist on the seasons offerings. Seeing something I had never seen before is what made me click on over and read all about it, so glad I did, I really can’t wait to make this. [Reply]

This looks amazing. The first time I tried pannacotta I was in Italy and had no idea what I was tasting- all I knew was that it was amazing. This sounds even better with the fall flavours. Looks delish. [Reply]

Simone, what happened to the layers? Anyway, your photo is lovely as always. You need to roast the hazelnuts first and the skin comes off real easy. In Greece we find them ready roasted, so we never have to do that. BTW I am impressed by how expensive hazelnuts are in general outside of Greece! In London I could not believe my eyes and almost decided against making the dessert, but my friend really wanted it. [Reply]

I don’t really know what happened to the layers, but they kind of disappeared! I did make the layers (only two due to the missing caketin problem) but you don’t see them anymore. You can still taste them but not sure where I went wrong. [Reply]

This looks really tasty. One trick to making the paste is to keep processing — also, adding a little bit of oil will make the paste smoother. I posted a recipe for praline paste not too long ago. [Reply]

 I was reading a post this week made by Christie from Coco Bean featuring a delicious looking apple cinnamon baked oatmeal recipe. I had some oats leftover from the oatmeal cookies that I baked the week before, so I figured this would make a perfect destination for them! Now the recipe is really fairly simple;... 11 comments

OH no! Well it lookes exactly like ours, so you did it right! A cup is 250mL. In the lab we mostly work in microL but our calculations are in mL or L. Basicly if you ever need conversions done, I unfortunatly can do it in my sleep and could help! I know what you mean about the smell, it is amazing eh. Looks delish! And measurements can be so tricky! I would be entirely okay with learning a new system (since I’m American and no one else uses ours), so that we could all operate under the same one. My husband is Canadian, and I swear I still have a hard time just converting Fahrenheit to Celsius. [Reply]

Ohhh this makes me want more of this! I had the same trouble with the pictures, its made up of muted tones (white one beige), and I only had a do it yourself typeof lighting box (a cardboard box with lined tracing paper). Im taking pointers from your picture though and definately going to pick up some assorted fabrics to use as grouds [Reply] Simone (junglefrog) Reply: I love all sort of different fabrics for the background. I go to the market on a regular basis and just buy little pieces of fabric that I like. I have a whole stack of them and they really cost next to nothing. (lots cheaper anyway then actual tablecloths!) I think I will try and redo the oatmeal at some point as it’s just too bland looking. Haven’t figured out how to make it look better… but… will hopefully be able to soon! [Reply]

Oh my, I love mango and chicken, and Ian love’s rocket! (it’s called arugula here but it took him a long time to realize that they are the same thing. He always hears Jamie Oliver say ‘rocket’) I am saving this for next week, the fruit store has some amazing little yellow mango’s. I’m sure you will hear about how it turns out! Oh yeah, for the oatmeal, I would assume any type of oats would work considering it is in the oven for 20-25 minutes. As a rule of thumb, just bake it until all the liquid is gone. [Reply]
