Macaroni with peas, bacon and ricotta

Macaroni with peas, bacon and ricotta

After working today I figured I wanted something tasty and quick. Quick these days seems to be the major keyword…. :) Tom is out tonight, which meant I get to make things he doesn’t like and he doesn’t like ricotta, so when I saw this recipe in the Good Food of this month, that seemed like the perfect choice. The original recipe calls for mint, but they didn’t have it in the supermarket and to be quite honest; for some reason I don’t really think that mint and pasta are such a fabulous combination anyway. I was willing to try it, but the supermarket got in the way.. (o excuses, excuses…)

It was really quick. The cooking of the pasta was really the part that took the longest (5 minutes) so fabulously tasty and ridiculously fast for something so good. Now I will tell you the recipe a little later. I have to share one more secret today and that is that I am addicted…. Yes, ladies and gentlemen… I am addicted. You can guess to what if you have a look at the next photo:

I’m addicted to Grey’s Anatomy!! Now unfortunately I have run out of seasons. I never watch it on tv, as I always miss loads of episodes and then forget to tape it, but I buy the complete seasons on dvd… But as I said; they’ve run out of new seasons for Grey’s Anatomy, so imagine the joy when I found this two days ago! Spin-off Private practice; the complete first season… :) Now I am sure there are many people out there who now think I am a lunatic. Quite frankly Tom always makes sure he is far away when I am about to watch one of the series, as I usually end up crying anyway. Haha, what is the fun in watching a series that makes you cry? I guess that cannot be explained. You either get it or you don’t. Period… :) I just watched the first episode (and yes, I cried!!) during my dinner. Gotta do some more work, but I will for sure watch another episode before the night is over!

And now over to the recipe:

400 gr pasta (any shape)

250 gr. frozen peas

125 gr ricotta

bacon

olive oil

mint (I used basil instead)

parmezan

Cook the pasta. In the meantime fry the bacon in another pan untill it turns golden. Add the peas and about 4 tablespoons of water. Bring to a boil untill the peas start to soften and the water is evaporated. Add the pasta and stir in the ricotta. If the pasta seems to dry add a bit of the cooking water of the pasta. Season to taste and scatter with basil leaves and parmezan shavings. And voila done!

Yum! Sounds delish!! Bacon, peas, cheese, and pasta always go together. I don’t think I would like the mint either, good choice with the basil!
I used to be a crazy greys anatomy fan but lately I just can’t get into it. Meridith whines too much in the newer ones. So are the ones that you watch in english, because the packaging is in two different languages!

Yes, I watch it in english! I couldn’t really watch in any other language. I hate the ones where it’s not the original voices. Imagine watching Meredith whine in Dutch… :) O, that would be horrific! haha…

First of all let me tell you that I am also addicted to Greys Anatomy! My husband cannot stand it as he doesn’t understand how I can find pleasure in watching people dying of various illnesses. I think he takes it too seriously…So I watch it in the mornings when he is not around :-) ! The pasta looks so tasty. I love ricotta cheese (well I love all cheese) and the combination will really work. Will try it next time I need something quick.

Maybe Grey’s Anatomy is more of a girls series anyway… :) I’ve never heard a guy say out loud that he liked it. My husband refuses to watch also so I watch it when he is not there. Ofcourse he always makes fun of me with Dr. McDreamy and MacSteamy. And he only knows those names because he saw it on a commercial once (the commercial was incredibly funny by the way; it was four guys trying to convince there girlfriends to get a beertender (I can’t remember the actual article, but it was something like that) and in return they were all soooo willing to watch dr. mcdreamy… It was hilarious!

I particularly like the shape of your pasta. Made a similar dish with crowder peas (beans).

My husband would love this pasta, I’m going to bookmark it and make it the next time we are craving the carbs! And I love Grey’s too (no shame!), but haven’t watched Private Practice. I’m still reading through these books that I’ve become obsessed with – from one obsession to the next, right! And go get yourself an icecream maker! They are so fun and most aren’t very expensive (I think mine was like $50).

Only $ 50,=? Hmm, gonna check it out on the internet right now!!

This looks like a fun summer recipe. How many servings did it make? I’d like to try this.

Pasta looks great!

I’m completly addicted to Greys Anatomy!! (I work in a hospital and alot of my colleagues don’t like medical shows as they’re never very medically correct but I think who cares it entertaining!). I like private practice but no where near as much Greys. I liked this last series where the 2 over lapped. My boyfriend pretends to dislike it but on the occasions he does watch it he gets hooked in by the over the top clinical situations! although he laughts at me when I cry when people die (especially the kids).

I made it for one person only but the amounts that are mentioned here would feed 4 people.

Quick and easy is always good when you are busy, and there’s nothing wrong to be addicted to a TV show. I am addicted to several of them, but I must confess that Grey’s anatomy has never been one of them :p

I’ve watched every season of Grey’s Anatomy and suddenly when the current season started, I just couldn’t watch it anymore. I don’t know why. I’m a big curious to see what’s been happening but I’m not sure I want to dive back in. Summer is short :)

Pasta and bacon. Oh yum!
