New studio around the corner?
Yesterday it was finally time to go and have a look at my potential new studio. I’ve been renting a place in Hilversum for about 1,5 years now and although I love it; it is really not convenient due to traffic jams and the fact that the area is quite run-down. My next door neighbor is a very nice man, but runs a building material shop which means that there are always huge trucks parked in front of my door, which gets annoying at times.
So a couple of weeks ago I heard that Mac3 business center bought the old BDF factory in Almere and they are making a creative center out of it. Anyway to make a long story short, we went there yesterday and had a look at the facilities and the possibilities.
Well, let’s start by saying that the possibilities are endless, really endless, but obviously everything has it’s price. Although the price per m2 was quite good, what they failed to mention on the phone is that you have to add 35 euro per m2 to that price for service costs. Which becomes a lot of money if you want to rent 100 m2 or so…
Anyway, I told the lady my preference is space and which area I would like to rent and then we’ll see where that leads us to when we receive the quote. The room I picked is quite large and will probably be around 100 m2 with lovely daylight, for making shots such as these
The quote will probably come next week and I am really not sure if I will be able to afford it. This whole thing made me realize at least that I want to move out of the current studio and into one closer to home, so this is definitely not the end. Will keep you posted!!

Moppie, dat met die studio gaat goed komen. Of het nu het pand gaat worden dat we hebben bekeken, of een ander pand dat je nog moet zien…. het gaat goed komen!
