I have never hear of a Tian… until now. It does look beautiful, and the idea sounds tempting… and though you say it is straightforward, it looks like there are too many steps in it for me. I think that is because I am not a fan of orange desserts. I am a fan of creamy desserts and a really good marmalade, though. Love that you took the time to do it even though you missed the challenge date. Personally, I don’t know how you have time to live your life with all of the cooking and writing and photography you do. I have difficulty getting my few posts out and keeping up with others and my list of “to do’s” and “want to make” just grwos and grows… but, I can certainly say I admire your work, your energy and your information – ALWAYS. Simone – I’m getting worse and worse when it comes to the challenges. I start them early..forget about them for a while as time flies by, then end up stressing to get it in on time at the last minute..a huge mess, cartoonish photos and all. Truth be told Simone, yout Tiramisu has won my heart! it’s gorgeous. I hav ehung on to ever word you’ve written, and have almost nodded my head off. Beautiful “tiramisu verrines”! Amaretto must add a wonderful taste to the whole thing! Tia Maria is also good in tiramisu, if you like coffee… Yes, the mascarpone seems to have surprised everyone, in many different ways. But it was definitely a cool experience, wasn’t it? [Reply]

Fabulous job on your tiramisu! I love your presentation too. I wasn’t all that sure that my mascarpone was going to turn out either. It had thickened, but was still fairly runny. So, I put it on parchment paper to set up in the fridge rather than cheese cloth. Miracle of miracles, the stuff firmed up and tasted so good. I think I’m going to try making some more cheeses. OH NO! I should’ve talked to you first! My mascarpone never solidified, stayed liquid and I dumped it down the sink!!! Argh! If I had only known! Next time i have a problem I’ll be calling you! And curiously I baked perfect ladyfingers yet they also became somewhat soggy after one night in my cookie tin (although they were still tasty). Anyway, back to you! Simone..I adore your tiramisu verrines and your solid shaped tiramisu is perfection too! I’m so glad you enjoyed this challenge, and I felt the same about the mascarpone – utter delight upon discovering the still somewhat liquid heavy cream was suddenly creamy cheese overnight It’s funny..we are complete opposites when it comes to coffee – you hate it in your food but like to drink it whereas I hate to drink it, but like it in food – go figure! SO, even though I’m not a daring baker, last week I made this Tiramisu. I made the masarpone, went through the agonising when the milk didn’t curdle, even though it thickened and was AMAZED at the miracle the next day. I guess its just nice to know how to make stuff even if you’ll go out and buy a pack/can the very next day! I also agree that it was firm the next day, perhaps more so than store-bought. I used orange as my dominant flavours, with some cointreau and this was BY FAR the best Tiramisu I had ever had/made. Verrukelijk! [Reply]

Oh Simone, I absolutely love it. It’s ethereal and such fun. I loved the challenge this month because it had real challenge and was very satisfying. I was lazy too with the cut outs…very abstract. The snowmen are adorable too…and the pictures FESTIVE! Happy holidays to you & your family! [Reply]

Awesome! Hubby and I made a gbread house from scratch several years ago and had a ball. He plotted it all out on graph paper and really got into it. We had a ball. Yours looks just great, Simone! [Reply]

I love your snowmen and you can’t really tell you struggled with the project if you just see your final pictures! Glad someone else had issues with the MS template but at least you saw the measurements I wonder if we used the same one. [Reply]

I’m with you, sister! I had exactly the same experience with the dough, pounding, smashing and loads of cursing. But I did enjoy putting it together. I wish I had had more Christmas candy but I was too lazy to go out looking for it. In the end your house is so cute and Christmassy! I love the whole scene! I think you did a great job! [Reply]

My children used to love decorating gingerbread houses – one of the few activities where they would work together without arguing – a Christmas miracle! Ha ha sounds like you were in my kitchen too. Yes the dough was hard to roll and crumbly. But we managed eventually. And you are so right it is not very palatable…tastes a lot like baking soda. But your results, even with all the pitfalls, are great. Beautiful [Reply]

I always thought these were just for decoration. I never imagined they were actually for eating but what do I know. I have always admired but never made one on account of our warm weather and ants which would surely overrun the house if I tried this.
