About
“What’s Junglefrog Cooking all about?”
Let me first start by telling you that I’m a food photographer from the Netherlands and my name is Simone. I don’t look like a frog (I hope!!) but the name of my company is Junglefrog Images. I also run Fresh Food Photos which is all about my food photography, so check out my portfolio there, if you’re interested. I also run workshops geared towards beginners and aimed at people interested in food photography. In 2012 Alexandra and I will be starting a new workshop specifically for food bloggers and it will be all about styling and on how to take the best photo with the gear you have.
If you’re new to this blog you might be wondering what on earth a frog has anything to do with cooking… Well… it all started when I got my own company about 5 years ago; Junglefrog Images. And no the name has no deeper meaning apart from the fact that I like frogs and thought it was a funny name. So when I started this foodblog, Junglefrog Cooking seemed like a great idea. I have since thought about changing the name but have been convinced by my loyal followers that that is not a good idea…
So Junglefrog Cooking it is.
I live in the Netherlands and I blog in English because I love the foodie community worldwide and therefore it made more sense to me to blog in English.
I do also run a Dutch online culinary magazine (called De Glazen Vork) where most of the recipes featured here will be available in Dutch. You’re just gonna miss the stories around it…
All photography on this site is copyright protected and property of Junglefrog Images. If you want to use any image please ask first!
All photography and styling is done by me unless otherwise mentioned.
Photos can be bought directly in either print or digital version here
Email: info@junglefrog.com
I am located in the Netherlands and have a studio in Almere.
Me showing my dough (not much to see I admit..lol)

Dear Simone,

Wow!
I got to your blog from flickr and I am stunned!!
I love your work!
When you follow those things you love, they all sort of hang together and coalesce into something tangible – with a little help. Keep doing what you love, it shows
Hi, What a great site. When is your food photography workshop? Do you have any dates set yet?
He Kirsty, The plan is to start with the new workshop in januari. Still some work to do before that!
Hi Simone,
I’m poking around for a wordpress template for a recipe blog and stumbled across the “get me cooking” template. I believe that is what you use, are you happy with it? This will be my first attempt, so I’ve nothing to compare it too, but was wondering whether you could comment on it’s ease of use, or anything else you may have to say about it, both positive or negative.
Thank you!
Paula
PS Lovely blog and photos…my dear, dear friend’s father is a food photographer from NYC, he had a gorgeous studio there forever, now he’s retired. He offered to take the photos at my wedding – what a unique photographic perspective I have of my wedding, as you can imagine. Again, lovely!
Hi Paula!
Yes I really do like the plugin a lot. Plus there will also be added functionality in the near future (such as recipe indexes etc.) so that is something more to look forward too. The guys that made it are really responsive if you contact them with questions or issues you’re experiencing and I like the look of the recipe on the site too. I still have quite a lot (a LOT) of recipes I need to transfer to GetmeCooking. That is the only downside, but if you’re starting fresh this is definitely a perfect plugin to use. It’s easy to use and I like the fact that I can already enter future recipes I want to write about on my blog but have already cooked earlier. I can just enter them and then use it when the time is there. They recently made it quicker to use so that is great too. There are still a few bugs but they’re working on fixing those.
And wow, how wonderful that your friend’s father did you wedding!
Thanks for the quick response! Think I’ll give it a go!
Have bookmarked your blog and look forward to all those recipes!
Hi Simone,
Lovely blog! Was just wondering how you did on the Speculaasbrokken photo shoot? You left a comment on my blog about it half december (www.kaatskeuken.nl/2011/12/speculaasbrokken.html). Now I’m just very curious
Regards, Kathalijne
Simone, I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog especially the photography. As a Chef here in the States (Wisconsin) and former Art Director I certainly appreciate your talents and generosity with the food that you present and the wonderful and “soulful” photography that you share. Keep up the great work. I hope that one day my food photography will be half as good as yours.
Sincerely,
Jay
O thanks so much Jay for those kind comments! Really appreciated!
Simone, thanks for the quick response. I was wondering if you had a chance to peek at my blog, I’d love some feedback and critic.

Jay
